Landfilling muck from the bottom of the Fox River in an effort to remove trace amounts of PCBs buried deep in the sediments below the river. Large tubes are being filled with dredged-up sediments sucked off the bottom of the river and from Little Lake Butte des Morts. This effort will cost over $1 billion. Some critics note that it will damage ecosystems on the river bottom and may actually increase PCB concentrations by stirring up deeply buried pollutants.
