Photos from Indonesia; Bali and Yogyakarta, Java
Indonesia is one of the most beautiful places on earth, rich in biodiversity and human diversity. Marvelous tropical landscape, delightful beaches and islands, stunning snorkeling, and warm, friendly people. Here are a few photos from my visits to paradise in Indonesia, especially Yogyakarta, Java and the island of Bali, Jan. 2012.

A family in Bali risks their lives to transport dangerous durian fruit by motorcycle. Delicious, but those spikes can be harsh on the knees.
Durian fruit, freshly opened, on a table underneath a durian tree on a Bali roadside. Best durian I've ever tasted. Very little odor, too. Americans often shun durian for its strong, stinky, sulfurous odor. But it's the king of fruit, one of the most delightful and enticing. And high in cholesterol!
